Over a hundred indigenous youth from campuses of the Apu Palamguwan Cultural Education Center (APC), will walk 12 kilometers from the mountains to call for urgent climate action in solidarity with the Global School Strike 4 Climate on March 15. This global movement was inspired by the solo protests by Swedish student Greta Thunberg who, in August last year, started skipping school to sit in front of the Swedish Parliament to demand for more serious climate response from the government. Her protests has since snowballed into massive actions led by thousands of school children across the world (e.g., Australia, Japan, Belgium, Germany, UK, Canada etc.)
Students from different APC campuses will start the walk at 6:00 a.m. and converge at St. Isidore High School, Zamboanguita Road, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, for a short program from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Everyone is encouraged to join.
