The Forest Farm and Leadership in the Margins (FFLM) unit of APC works with Balay Laudato Sí in supporting the Youth Work Experience (YWE) program to provide alternative opportunities for vulnerable youth in Bendum, Philippines who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
YWE is a two-month program that provides skills training and formation to youth in community while building skills in managing of the ancestral domain.
One of the courses taught in the program is organic farming that draws knowledge from Indigenous farming practices. This deepens the participants’ understanding and appreciation of soil and water management, as well as the role of food production in community building.
Listen to one of the completers of the program as he shares how the skills and values he learned helped him change his perspective towards work, life, and relationships.
