Sa Bahandi ta Bendum (The Wealth of Bendum), an APC storybook

Sa Bahandi ta Bendum is a storybook of the APC school that tells the story of how people perceive their treasure (wealth). For the community, true wealth is the unity found in sharing life’s benefits and ancestral lands. It is not the physical extraction from the land or its degradation.

APC students share this storybook with parents during visits to different villages as part of the school’s efforts to communicate the education that the APC school offers.

Culture-based education at the APC school is geared towards teaching children and youth to protect and care for their gaup (land, water, forest, biodiversity, culture, and community). This education also empowers students to serve their communities through humble leadership while relating confidently with the broader society.

Maura Lipanda wrote the story of Sa Bahandi ta Bendum when she was the Unit Head and Social Studies teacher at the APC Grade School. She is now the School Manager since June 2024.

Images were drawn by Franklin Buno (Grade 9) and colored by Esaganie Walo (Grade 9) and Warren Berdesola (Grade 7).

Sa Bahandi ta Bendum was first printed in February 2020 and its second printing is March 2026.

Ang mensahe sa istorya mao ang panglantaw sa mga tawo sa kung unsa ilang bahandi. Para sa komunidad, ang tinuod nga bahandi mao ang panaghiusa nga makita sa pagpaambit sa mga kaayohan sa kinabuhi ug sa yutang kabilin; dili kini ang pisikal nga pagkuha gikan sa yuta o ang pagdaot niini.

Kini nga basahon gipaambit sa mga estudyante sa APC ngadto sa mga ginikanan higayon sa pagbisita sa nagkalain-laing mga baryo isip kabahin sa paningkamot sa eskwelahan nga ipasabot kung unsa ang matang sa edukasyon nga ginatanyag sa APC – usa ka edukasyon nga nagtumong sa pagtudlo sa mga bata ug kabatan-onan sa pagpanalipod ug pag-atiman sa ilang gaup (yuta, tubig, kalasangan, biodiversity, kultura, ug komunidad) ug pagpalig-on sa matag-usa aron makaalagad sa ilang komunidad pinaagi sa mapahiubsanon nga pagpangulo samtang masaligon silang makig-uban sa mas halapad nga katilingban.

Kini nga istorya sinulat ni Ate Maura Lipanda, kaniadto Unit Head ug magtutudlo sa Social Studies sa APC Grade School ug karon mao na ang School Manager sukad pa Hunyo 2024.

Ang mga dibuho hinimo ni Franklin Buno, Grade 9 nga estudyante, ug gikuloran ni Esaganie Walo ug Warren Berdesola, mga estudyante sa Grade 9 ug Grade 7 kaniadtong School Year 2019-2020.
